Nobody says what we intend doing
today, but it is as plain as daylight.
We wear swimming pants in exchange of a business
suit, and flip-flop in exchange of leather
shoes.
It looks as if we don't leave any openings like a businessperson of Manhattan.
We take the boat leaving at 10 a.m and go
to Paradise Beach before we know it.

When we get off the boat, it looked as if we are welcomed by
signboard of "Welcome to Paradise Beach and Camping."
As soon as do that, we rent sun bed and locate
it.
Perhaps we are also likely to do situp and
stretching exercise today.
But there is a sparse visitor in the morning.
Many people stay up late at night and sleep
late in the morning, I guess.
As time goes by, people come
to crowd the beach.
Water's edge is popular among women.
It seems a good that they go the full monty,
bathe their legs in the seawater and they
enjoy the touch of the waves.
When we try to dive, we can see some nice
fishes, on the other hand we can see nymphs
in the beach.
How nice place is!
Some guys try to mack in the
beach.
Other party is grouse gears who relaxes in
the nuddy, and primus challenger wears swimming
pants, secundus one is full monty.
Well, which challenger achieved success in
pitching woo?
After all, winner was secundus challenger.
There is no telling why they were success
due to women's liking, but hiding something
fell into disfavor with women.
We didn't always look topless
girls in Mykonos Island.
It is very nice that there are contrast between
a row of white houses and blue colors, as already stated.
If you take a walk in Mykonos Town after
coming back from the beach, you can see such
a view.
Finally, there were some playing
card on which is printed hard-core bedwork
scene among various kinds of souvenirs at
the gift shop in Mykonos Town.
It would be better to buy such things if
you like.
Do I have only such subjects, don't I?
Please don't worry because I intend to get
back to the subject.

There is clear blue sky and seawater
in front of view!
A row of white houses are glittering with
sunshine.
It's also an ideal day for going to the beach
today.
We really hate to leave such a nice island
for only 3 nights.
It takes about 3 hours from Mykonos
to Piraeus by high speed boat.
If you have time to spare, it would be better
to take a liner because of low price but
taking long for 6 hours.
By the way, sleeping late is not problem
for you because passengers are able to have
a light meal in the ship.
Now that a food booth is not crowded, it
may be good to enjoy chatting with vacant
sales clerk.
We arrived at Piraeus port and then went to Omonia by subway.
Since Piraeus station is just by the ferry
terminal, it's convenient way for going downtown.
Ticket is available from a machine or from
the ticket office.
Therefore the No.40 green bus takes you to
Syntagma Square, the No.49 bus also takes
you to Omonia Square.
Athens is one of the mecca of budget air tickets.
There are many travel agencies in the city,
there seems to be some agencies which Japanese
language is available among them.
We intended to go to one of them, but we
were not able to find it because guidebook's
data was not latest version.
When we had such a experience even if we
had got the impression it, we got a great
shock.
Because it is one of a pleasure that somebody
intend to meet their compatriot outside the
country.
This day, we intended to go to Cape Sounion.
Since it is said that the buses for there
had left from Areos Park, we waited for the
bus till the cows come home, however, the
bus ultimately didn't run.
It seemed that bus drivers were on strike,
however, nobody told us such a thing even
the locals and staff of tourist information.
I think that a delay of Greek transportation
had been ordinary occurrences, but not on
strike.
No matter how you look at it, even the locals
seemed to wait for the bus.
But they really waited for the bus, didn't
they?
We didn't feel like going sightseeing
and took a siesta at cinema.
There were many litter-strewn street and
jobless people crouched down in the city.
These were totally different from what Japanese
expected.
We didn't go to Wine Festival (held untill in the middle of September then)
of Daphni because bus drivers were on strike.
In lodging where we stayed, when we opened
the window, we were plagued with mosquitoes,
on the other hand we closed the window, our
room was overheated.
We had hardly a good thing this day, right?

When you stay any budget hotels
without air conditioner in Athens, of course
not apply only to lodging where we stayed,
you need to buy a mosquito coil.
Mosquito coils were available at supermarket
near Omonia Square at that time, but we missed
buying it because we didn't confirm closing
time.
Our plan that we intended to buy it after
coming back seemed to end in failure.
Old Corinth can be reached by
train or bus.
If you take a train, you should go to Peloponnese
Station; if you take a bus, you should go
to Kiffissou Bus Terminal.
To get to Peloponnese station from Omonia Square, you should walk down
Aghiou Konstaninou street to Kariaskakis Square and then go to Theodorou
Diligiani street.
Therefore to get to Larissis station is same.
To get to Bus Terminal A (Kiffissou) either take a taxi or take bus No.51
from the corner of Zinonos and Menandrou streets.
To get to this point from Omonia Square,
you should go down Aghiou Konstaninou street
take a left on Menandrou (at the church of
Aghiou Konstantinos) and walk 2 short blocks.
To get to Terminal B (Liossion) either take a taxi or by public transport
take bus No.24 from Amalias Avenue by Syntagma Square or Panapistimiou
street.
In addition, Athens' local buses didn't run
because of driver's strike on this day.
Since Greek transportation is
usually sloppy about being on time, you should
put delay of it into your mind.
Needless to say, it is quite uncalculated
that Greek transportation is punctual like
Japan's train.
If you are planning to do something at night,
you might to join a guided tour at local
travel agency.
Trains for Corinth (Korinthos) leave from Peloponnese station.
Patras where ships leave for Italy is beyond Corinth.
To get to Old Corinth from the town of Corinth
must make a connection at bus terminal with
local bus.
However, since its bus terminal is far from
railway station, it would be better to take
a bus in Athens.
By the way, if you would like to take a bus
at not bus stop, it's OK to raise your hand
when bus come along.
How should you do if its destination is different
from what you expected?
In a case like that, it's OK to ask about
its destination after stop the bus.
Otherwise you may miss the bus.
Talking of sightseeing of remains,
there seems to be hardly interesting places
except a museum.
If you wish to come here, you might stay in Loutraki.
Alternatively, you might take a tour of Peloponnese
remains by guided tour.

"Athens Sightseeing half-day
tour" which we booked two days previously
leaved from Syntagma Square at 9 o'clock
in the morning.
Mainly, we visited to Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier (the House of Parliament / ex Royal
Palace), Mitropoleos Cathedral, and then
today's highlight "The Acropolis of
Athens" by this tour.
Unfortunately, we only saw through the window
other places except them.
We could have walked around in the city of
Athens if we had had much time, however,
since we intended to leave for Barcelona
on this day, we chose a sure thing.
Must-see sight of Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is the changing
of the guard.
There is also the House of Parliament (ex
Royal Palace) at the back of the Tomb, this
tour called at the House.
As you see, the guard of Tomb stand in native
dress "Evzones."
I suggest you see the ceremony of the changing
of the guard at hourly intervals.
Miroropoleos Orthodox Cathdral is the biggest cathedral of
Greek Orthodox in Athens.
There is a square in front of the cathedral,
its place is good for rest.
Everybody is free to enter the inside of
the cathedral, it may be good for you to
visit to the inside.
it is also good to keep out the heat, right?
The Acropolis of Athens is the most important site of the city.
It may be no exaggeration to say that when
you come to Athens, you must visit there.
The most important monuments on the Acropolis
are The Parthenon, The Erechtheion, The Temple
of Athena Nike and The Propylaea.
The Parthenon is built in the Doric order (one of Greek architecture)
and almost exclusively of Pentelic marble.
The central part of the temple, called the
cella, sheltered the famous chryselephantine
cult statue of Athena, made by Pheidias.
The sculptural decoration of the Parthenon
is a unique combination of the Doric metopes
and triglyphs on the entablature, and the
Ionic frieze on the walls of the cella.
Both The Erechtheion and The Temple of Athena
Nike are built in the Ionic order.
The Propylaea is the monumental gateway of
the Acropolis.
Its colonnades along the west and east sides
had a row of Doric columns while two rows
of Ionic columns divided the central corridor
into three parts.
Athens sightseeing tour finished
and then we waited for a bus for going to
Hellinikon airport.
However, regular buses didn't run cause of
driver's strike, military forces acted for
them.
Massive demonstration had held in the city,
travelers like us had kept waiting for military
bus.
But nobody knew when it will come there.
We were patient then, I guess.
It seemed that our time sense was totally
different from when we were in Japan.
How did we do if in Japan?
You can get to Sants station from El Prat airport on Barcelona
Sants by train.
You take a train rather than other transportation
because you can book a lodging at tourist
information on Sants station.
I heard English was not available in Spain
like Japan, but I felt such things changed
for the better under the influence of Barcelona
Olympics.
It was the same as Japan that women was more
active in English conversation than men.
Finally, let me say a word: "When you come to Greece, I suggest you
never fail to visit to Aegean islands."
