There is the metro in Barcelona the same as Madrid, if you
take it, you might buy coupon ticket (Tarjeta).
Because it is quite obvious per above table.
I mean if you are couple and take the metro
three times or more, you may get your money's
worth.
By the way, you can book a train (RENFE) ticket at Catalunya station of metro too.
However, if you are not good at Spanish,
you should pass a note to operation staff.
Even so, you need to pay attention because
he/she sometimes make you buy a ticket which
is different from what you expected.
In addition to that, there are some pickpockets
and baggage thieves.
My friend had his money picked from his wallet
by a pickpocket.
Security is the greatest enemy, right?
La Rambla is one of major artery in Barcelona and leads from
Plaça Catalunya to the port.
Many people walk around and there are many
street performer on the boulevard.
There are also lot's of souvenir shops and
La Boqueria (Sant Josep Market) along the boulevard.
Many kind of perishable foods are available
cheaply in this market.
You will not have trouble having a meal here
even if you are budget traveler.
In addition to that, there is McDonald's along the boulevard.
Since it is prominent, it is convenient when
you intend to arrange to meet your friend(s).
Of course it is greatest merit that order
is easy even if you are not good at Spanish.
Therefore I heard "La Rambla" is
often called as the plural "Las Ramblas"
in Castilian (castella).
The highlight of sightseeing
in Barcelona is Sagrada Família.
To get there is easy because you take the
metro and get off at station capped with
its name.
I heard it is impossible that this church
will be brought to completion after centenarian.
And God only knows year of the completion
of it as a matter of fact, I guess.
Well, we only wish disaster would not be
cause of destruction, right?
Therefore when you go up to the top by the
tower's elevator, you can look over a panoramic
view of Barcelona.
Since you go to Sagrada Família all
the way, try going up to the top.
Of course if you have guts, please do by
stairs.
In addition to Sagrada Família, there
are also Casa Mila, Casa Batlló, Parc
Güell and others in Gudi works.
We didn't go to Parc Güell, however,
if you try to narrow down the visiting places,
it would be better to go there.
Because I felt other works were drab.
Eating is one of the pleasure
of travel.
There are a lot of delicious food and wine (vino) in Spain.
My favorite dishes are "paella (fried
rice with various seafoods and chicken)"
and "tortilla (omelet)," "carnes
(meat dishes)" are good taste too.
If possible, it would be better to speak
minimum Spanish vocabulary of terms relating
to foods and drinks.
Even if these are mineral water (aguamineral),
beer (cerveza) or orange juice (sumo de naranja).
It is also important to catch on vocabulary
about number.
If you cannot speak them, it seems to be
difficult to even have a meal.
Anyway, I suggest those who are not good
at Spanish bring a dictionary or choose restaurants
where there is English menu (carta).

If you are going to Montjuïc, the Funicular is good
to use from Paral Lel of the metro station.
Or going on foot from Plaça d'Espanya, however, since this way is
uphill road, you might take The Funicular when go there.
When you get to Monjuïc, there are Estadi Olímpic (Olympic
Stadium), Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) and so on.
The Olympics had been held from July 25 to August 8 in Olympic
Stadium, and Paralympics (games for the disabled) was held on this day.
Its entrance fee was free and there was sparse
audience, however, players made a new world
record one after another.
I think they have a lot of trouble with even
handling their wheelchair.
Hence, I take off my hat to their effort
that they take part in a race by wheelchair.
You go out of Olympic Stadium
and go down a slope, then you can find Poble
Espanyol (Spanish Village).
There are many replicas of Spanish remains,
souvenir shops, restaurants and so on.
Well, this place provides travelers with
useful information, however, you might intend
to have a break rather than go sightseeing.
You go down a slope further, you can find
El Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (The
National Art Museum of Catalonia) by Plaça
d'Espanya.
There are fountains close to them and night
show is held in summer.
Unfortunately we didn't have an opportunity
to see it.

According to the guidebook, travelers
don't need to book a train ticket in the
greater number of cases.
However, it is an exception when you intend
to make a trip for any resort on season by
night train.
Because without your booking, you are likely
to miss the train.
You are obliged to buy a seat ticket when
the berth ticket cannot be taken.
How do you do in such a case?
If you are group, let's ask the conductor
again while showing the ticket after takes
the train: "Quisiera cambiar este billete
por otro del coche-litera. (I'd like to change
this ticket to couchettes.)"
Then If you have a good luck, though different
compartment, you may get a berth ticket.
How about us?
Actually, though we all had berth tickets,
we didn't change tickets because one of our
friends became nervous.
It seemed to us that he got great shocked because German woman in the same
compartment had her Walkman (means only portable cassette player then)
stolen.
By the way, if the train conveys dining car,
you should have a dinner there.
When you sit on the ocean side, you can look
scenic Costa Daurada over the window, and meals are also nice
taste.
These are good for travelers.
But you should get somebody to watch your
luggage in a case like that.
It's OK if you say "Guarda mi equipaje,
por favor. (in Spanish)" or "Watashi-no
nimotsu-wo mite-ite kudasai. (in Japanese),"
right?
Therefore we who kept staying in initial
compartment had a terrible time.
German woman in question looked quite unconcerned
and Spanish in same compartment enjoyed a
chat till a late hour.
Thanks to them, we became lack of sleep.
"It is no use crying over spilt milk,"
right?
