My World Cup Watching Report - Here's beginning.

The pre-World Cup is heating up (January 13, 2002 / Asahi Shimbun)
*posted in Japanese only, traslated by me

A scramble for the World Cup tickets is brought to a head.
All seats in the Japan's general public ticket quota (JAWOC Client) have been sold out. The intermediate sales for the special tickets with meals and drinks will begin, but not everybody can apply them because their price is very expensive, for example, 1 million Yen beyond.
Thereby the international general public ticket quota and sponsors' one are spotlighted, and advertised as a last measure by the web sites.

"We'll apply for the World Cup tickets for you!" Recently, such an advertisement is noticeable on the internet auction sites.
Such agents would apply for the intermediate sales in the international general public ticket quota.
Their sales talk is that "tickets are easily available from FIFA more than JAWOC.

According to the 2002 FIFA World Cup Ticketing Bureau, residents in Japan can apply for VST Series or individual match tickets located in Korea or for TST Series for any team.
Ticket application form can be available from only the 2002 FIFA World Cup Ticketing Bureau or the FIFA Official Site (http://www.fifa.com/).
The problem is that many of the Japanese are not good at English.
Japan's agents read applicants' mind.
Their contract rate is about from 2,000Yen to 5,000Yen, and not refundable in case of loss of the random selection.

International Ticket Sales

horse with halter trottingI applied for the intermediate sales in the international general public ticket quota as soon as reading a paper, Asahi Shimbun.
This paper said "Application is difficult if you are not fluent in English."
But despite of this information I tried to apply for it, and then I was successful in application because some Japanese information could be available.
What applicants' passport number was required in the on-line application form was nowhere to be written.
Believe it or not, those who didn't have a passport might not have applied for the tickets.
Actually, I lost the random selection in the intermediate sales, but I could get TSTs for Saudi Arabia by the final sales.
And my application on the final sales took only about half an hour until acceptance.
As of February, if money is no object, any tickets could be available except Japan's ones.
But my choice was Saudi Arabia or Ecuador because seats of category 3 were available, and these team played a match in Yokohama or Saitama once at least.
So I am living in Yokohama.
Ultimately, I felt bad about this choice in June, but I may be a lucky supporter as I recall because Japan's domestic sales had been in confusion, especially Last Minute Ticket Sales.
