We went to Lake Toya and Mt. Usu Volcano by car before W-Cup match at night. These places is situated in the southwestern part of Hokkaido, from Sapporo takes about 2 hours by driving on the Dohoh expressway. Mt. Usu Volcano erupted on March 31, 2000, it's one of world-famous active volcano and even now we can see craters. Officially, the volcano wouldn't erupt now, but the vivid history is proven by ruined nursery school and upraised road on the pathway. I suggest seeing the active volcano when coming to Lake Toya. Toya-ko Onsen Hot Spring is one of the best spa resorts in Hokkaido, so we stayed here when coming skiing to Rusutsu. Since some hotels offer bathing time for nonresidents, please ask the staff if you experience hot spring on the day trip. I suggest to take a hot spring and then drink rather than go sightseeing the lake on a pleasure boat. But missing the match was beyond a joke because of oversleeping at break room on this day, we left for Sapporo as soon as we finished sightseeing. |
