I went to Ba Ho Waterfalls and Doc Let Beach with chartered motorbike taxi driver, Mr. Tran Dinh Hong called Lee.
Getting to Ba Ho Waterfalls takes National Route 1A for 19 km, then 2 km
of forest lane.
I felt relieved because there was no peddler and simple Vietnamese life
there.
Ba Ho means three lakes in Vietnamese, Lee said "There are three lakes
from No.1 to 3, but you should make your risky way to No.2 and 3."
If it's in hot weather, jumping in the rock pool is very comfortable after
hiking on the mountain trail for about 1 kilometer.
Almost nobody was in the rock pool, I felt there to be like a private beach.

To enter the Doc Let Beach cost us 3,000VND (20 Yen).
So I paid it and chatted with Lee on the vinyl sheet on the beach.
He asked how much it is, I answered "I bought it for about US$1 in
Japan."
As he heard that, he said with amazed look "It's unbelievably expensive!"
It was understandable, I guessed.
US$1 was equivalent to the rent on three sets of the sunbed and beach parasol
here.
Moreover the average monthly-wage of waiter/waitress is US$20 (300,000VND=2,460
Yen), said Lee.
Peddlers came near to me as soon as I sat down on the sheet.
So they mainly sold local cuisine to me.
For example, the shrimp with sour sauce was 30,000VND (US$2=240 Yen), and
the clam with sour sauce was 20,000VND (160 Yen).
Therefore pineapples was 3,000VND (20 Yen) for local price, and 10,000VND
(80 Yen) for tourist price.
As I bought a variety of goods, more and more peddlers came near to me.
Many peddlers were women, so women seemed to be hard worker than men in
Vietnam.
Unfortunately, my money was their favorite, but I was not so, right?
I went to Po Nagar Cham Towers on the way back.
It is advisable to be careful of improvised guides because they come near
and try to do unwished guide, then demand a charge.
Moreover children and handicappers pestered me for money, I had difficulty
shaking them off.
So standing on the top of the hill, I can admire the beautiful landscapes
of the coastal region of Nha Trang, but I don't always recommend to go
there.
In the evening, I was taken to some local restaurant by Lee.
In such a case, if he was a pernicious guide, I might have been taken to
rip-off joints and they might have made me pay all.
However, fortunately, since he was a good guy, I never had an unpleasant experience.
Therefore if I want to eat some unlisted cuisine, it can be delivered from
other restaurants on his request.
It's very convenient system, I guess.

There was a tour leaflet at the hotel lobby, which was daily boat trip
(see also here) for Mun Island, Mot Island, Tam Island and Mieu Island.
But it seems to be so busy for me, I chose an excursion to Monkey Island
with Lee.
At last it was mistake to choose, Monkey Island was not very interesting
for me.

The attractions of Monkey Island are only feeding the monkeys, elephant
ride and monkey circus.
So a little of bravery is necessary to feed the monkeys; the hungry ones
hang around the feeding stations, some woman who was feeding the monkeys
gave a scream.

Meanwhile, since the water depth is too shallow, the sea is suitable for
young families to play, not adults to swim.
It is said that Monkey Island is crowded with locals on weekends, but there
were few people on this day; therefore sightseers of monkey circus were
only seven, including us.
Some westerner also looked so bored, they asked Lee when return boat comes.
I thought I would rather have bargained with peddlers in Nha Trang Beach
than come here.
So the independent tourist always have such risks, right?
In the evening, I was taken to Lac Canh Restaurant, which is most famous restaurant in Nha Trang.
In fact I felt there were the most tourists among the restaurants what
I had seen.
And I also thought one of popularity is that this restaurant offers not
only seafoods but also steaks.
After Lac Canh restaurant, we went eating won-ton noodle soup (one of Chinese
cuisine) at Minh Ky/Mi Gia (address: 02A Hoang Van Thu, Nha Trang).
It would seem that Lee thought one of my favorite foods is won-ton noodle soup; so thanks to him, I went to such businesses without any trouble.
Finally, it is advisable to go to "My A Food Shop & Restaurant
(address: 10 Hung Vuong Street, Nha Trang)" if you want to drink some
cold beers at a low price.
Since this restaurant's owner also operates tour agent, won't you consult your plan over meal?
